Tips to choose right base, foundation

If cosmetics are not your forte and you strive to take a leap into the beauty world, then selecting a suitable foundation would be the initial and important task. Correct foundation application is the most essential step to wear your make right. Therefore the question arises, which foundation would be suitable for your skin type? Apparently the best foundation is the one that matches and blends with your skin tone perfectly. The selection can depend upon the multiple factors such as weather, skin type and application process.
choose the right foundation
Tips to choose right base, foundation
Here are few tips to help you stay on the right track and prevent you from tumbling on wrong options: -
  • Foundation Coverage:  The amount of coverage you desire is your personal choice. If you have a flawless skin then you can choose a foundation with minimum coverage. If there are some light marks you prefer to hide then go for one with medium coverage. And if you want to cover all the natural marks such as freckles, acne and even tattoos, then go for the one with has maximum coverage intensity.
  • Texture selection: Another factor that requires consideration is the texture of the foundation. It comes in mainly 3 forms: liquid, cream and powder. The selection can be done on the basis of your skin type as well as the weather conditions. If your skin is dry in nature, then cream textured foundation would be the best option for you. On the same note, in winters the skin gets dry so liquid or cream foundation would be beneficial and likewise with excessive sweating in summers, the liquid foundation wears off easily so opting for the powdered texture would be suitable.
  •  Skin type: Often different foundations are prepared keeping a single skin type and tone in mind. The powdered foundations blend well with the oily skin. Cream textured foundations are suitable for the dry skin types and sometimes they contain moisturizers which keep skin healthy. The packaging of the foundations indicates the skin type its best suited for. Read it thoroughly and test use the product before purchasing.
  • Effect: Often the effect of foundation on skin is usually mentioned or pictured on the foundation’s packing. Each foundation has different finishing effect which results into the matte look, dewy finish etc. These finishing results should be opted depending upon one’s skin type for e.g. a foundation which gives dewy finish, if applied on the oily skin, may make the skin look dull and worn out.
Some useful tips: -
  • Some moisturizing creams contain foundation in their ingredients. Go through the cream’s package thoroughly. This way you can get an even skin with a single cream application and thus your skin would be able to breathe easily.
  •  For those using anti-aging cream, the best option would be to use a cream which constitute foundation and sun protection.
  •  To test whether the foundation color matches your skin tone perfectly or not, apply some of it on and around your jaw region. If it blends perfectly then that foundation is correct foundation for you.

Control Frizzy hair

The moisture in the air can make hair frizzy. Its cuticle needs to be sealed to prevent the hair from making up its mind and turning voluminous in a way that you cannot handle it. For those with extra-curly hair it can be a real problem. But do not despair – there are ways to enjoy hair that is curly and sometimes rather too much on the top! But let me tell you hair is good. Any hair with a little management can be a crowning glory. Learn to love your hair and others will envy yours!
Wash with the right shampoo:
What you use to wash your hair and how you wash your hair all play a part in frizz control. Try using a gentle sulphate-free shampoo. Sulphate, a lathering agent, is drying and can strip hair of moisture, and dehydrated strands are at greater risk of frizzing. To make hair even more frizz-proof, rinse well with cold water after conditioning. This will help seal the cuticle, making it harder for moisture to enter the hair follicle, which can cause frizz. Also, beer is a good rinse-off ingredient. After towel-drying, treat damp hair to a coat of leave-in conditioner which will seal in needed moisture. Avon offers a good one. Products formulated for frizz-control are the best. Also, do not allow sweat to build up in the hair, it adds to the frizz. In case you perspire a lot, use a cool speed on the hair drier to dry off the extra moisture.
Hair Care Tips - Frizzy HairDeep condition the hair weekly:
If your hair is a medium or thick texture, a weekly deep-conditioning hair mask, like the one L’Oreal has to offer, is good. This product is essential for frizz control. It infuses hair with moisture to prevent the breakage that can lead to frizz. In the shower, after you’ve shampooed, gently squeeze out any excess water from your hair, then apply the conditioning mask. Let it soak in for five minutes using the time to shave your legs or using a body-scrub. Follow the directions on the bottle. If steaming is suggested get it done at a parlour. If not, take a tolerably hot and wet Turkish towel and wrap it around the hair. This will sufficiently help the mask to perforate and reduce the frizz. Then rinse thoroughly with cold water.
Styling hair is very important:
When you want great curls with no frizz, styling hair wet is the key. Apply a cream, serum, oil or a cocktail of all three to wet hair. People resort to water, let me tell you that is not the way to go about a wet look. You may need to experiment a bit to find which works best for your hair type.
One product for frizz-control on fine, medium or thick hair is Wella serum. A little of this product goes a long way, so start by using less than you think you’ll need. After applying your product or products of choice from root to ends, twist your hair into a long, loose curl in the shape of a banana, and let the hair settle to its natural fall.
If you’re in a rush and don’t have time to let your curls air-dry for less frizz, use a blow-dryer with a diffuser to speed up the drying process. Always keep the blow-dryer nozzle pointing down so it doesn’t rough up the hair cuticle, which creates an opening for moisture to penetrate and cause frizz.
Try straightening:
Yes, despite all the above effort at de-frizzing, it so happens that some types of hair just does not respond to all the care. To straighten curly or wavy hair and prevent frizz, the right styling products and tools are the key. Start with an anti-frizz treatment product that creates a moisture barrier — like Avon Frizz Control Lotus Shield – so hair is protected from humidity and rain. It can be mixed with other products, such as volumising spray or thickening mousse, to create the texture you like. Also, you could use a good fatty curd as a mask and see if that works for you. Wash the hair, apply curds let it soak for 10 minutes and wash it off. To straighten hair, don’t pull or tug aggressively with a brush, which can damage hair and even cause it to fall out prematurely. Instead, use a boar-bristle brush, which is gentlest on hair because the natural bristles are less likely to snap strands than plastic or metal. And use a hot blow-dryer. Finish with a blast of cold air from your blow-dryer to close the cuticle and seal the style.
And yet again, if the above treatment is still not helpful, consider relaxing the hair at a professional hair care centre. Be warned this can be very expensive and have very high maintenance. But that again is all that is relative because, when hairs is relaxed, it has a wash and wear comfort, but the products for the regular shampooing is expensive. It all depends on your lifestyle, work environs and personal preference on the way you want to look and the easy way to achieve that.
Gentle wash:
Regardless of whether you wear your hair curly or straight, washing every day can aggravate frizz. Over-washing hair can damage it and dry it out, which makes it more susceptible to frizz. Try to leave at least a day between shampoos to help prevent frizz. If you’re wearing your hair curly, your best frizz-busting strategy is to wet it every day and use a curl-refreshing product, a serum. Those who are wearing their hair straight or wavy should use a dry shampoo to extend the time between washings and the use of damaging heat styling tools like a hair iron. But remember when you do wash, be gentle and not vigorous in the way you scrub the mane.
Visit your stylist:
Work with your hairstylist to find a cut that enhances your natural texture. When you work with your hair type instead of against it, it’s easier to style and that’s healthier for your hair. Getting a trim every six to eight weeks will keep hair free from split ends.
When split ends aren’t addressed, they can advance up the hair shaft, leading to more severe breakage and more frizz. Also, if you find your hair has much too much body, request your stylist to reduce it with the way she cuts.
Yes, you like your hair and you like playing with it. If you constantly play with your hair, you’re likely to end up with more frizz. Playing with your curly hair when it is dry will absolutely aggravate frizz. That means no twisting curls around your fingers, no brushing curls harshly, and no extended primping sessions in the mirror after your hair is dry. If curls have lost their bounce at the end of the day, use a curl-refreshing spray.
Another habit to break: sleeping on an old pillowcase. All hair types will benefit from a satin pillowcase, which causes less friction, leading to less breakage and frizz. A silky pillowcase also helps extend the life of your style so you can go longer between washings.
A shower of rain can seem like your hair’s worst frizz enemy. Be prepared by smoothing a few drops of a frizz serum on dry locks before leaving the house on days when rain is forecast. The moisture in the air will frizz up the hair.
Always carry an umbrella so you’re never caught off guard during an unexpected shower. If it’s particularly blustery and the rain is coming at you sideways, wear a hat or protect your hair with a scarf. If your hair is very long, you may want to pin it up in a loose bun so the ends don’t get wet. Keep the mane happy and you too will be!
